The 2025 Kálmán Medzihradszky Presentation Award Was Presented at the May Meeting of the MTA Peptide Chemistry Working Committee

Academician Kálmán Medzihradszky taught at ELTE from 1950 until his retirement, and later continued his teaching and research activities as a professor emeritus. In 2003, the University awarded him the title of doctor honoris causa. Following in the footsteps of his outstanding mentor, Győző Bruckner (1890-1980), Professor Medzihradszky placed great emphasis on high-quality scientific presentations and encouraged his students and colleagues to do the same. After his death, his wife, Mrs. Kálmán Medzihradszky, Hedvig Schweiger, established a presentation award in his memory. The award recognizes the best presentations delivered at the annual scientific meeting of the MTA Peptide Chemistry Working Committee. Last year's scientific meeting was held in Balatonszárszó from 19 to 21 May, and the awards were presented afterwards. In 2025, the Foundation for Hungarian Peptide and Protein Research recognized the presentations of Tamás T. Novák (HUN-REN Research Centre for Natural Sciences, Institute of Organic Chemistry, Stereochemistry Research Group), Zsófia Szász, PhD student (Semmelweis University, Institute of Genetics, Cell and Immunobiology; supervisor: Eszter Lajkó), and Arijit Sarkar, PhD student (HUN-REN Biological Research Centre, Szeged; supervisor: Attila Borics). The Kálmán Medzihradszky Presentation Award is decided by a professional jury. Its permanent members are the founder, the current President of the Foundation, and the current Chair of the MTA Peptide Chemistry Working Committee. Each year, two senior members of the Working Committee are also invited to participate in selecting the awardees. This year, the members of the jury were Gábor Mező, representing the President of the Foundation; Tamás Martinek, Chair of the Working Committee; Szilvia Bősze, representing the Founder; and Tamás Beke-Somfai.

Congratulations!
